Description

The Freelance Organising course is specifically designed for freelance members who want to be active within BECTU. This course deals with three core areas of union activity - 'Communicating', 'Organising' and 'Negotiating'.

If you do not have a branch, we will explain how to set one up. You will also gain:

- The ability to run a meeting effectively and be able to use BECTU's committee structure to drive issues raised by freelance members.

- The ability to recruit and organise other freelance workers in your changing workplaces.

- The ability to set up branch by-laws effectively.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you will have learned more about:

  • How BECTU's structure works
  • How to run an effective meeting
  • How to use communication and interpersonal skills to organise
  • How campaigning in a freelance workplace works
  • How to work effectively in a team as a branch

Key Course Objectives

You will be more confident dealing with freelance branch meetings and recruiting. You will have the skills to get better deals and decisions for BECTU members.

It would be great if you could attend. Please contact Lesley Burt (lburt@bectu.org.uk) if you need a travel warrant.
